Rattlesnake
Spring Volunteer Project
Get out your sunscreen and canteen and come
help us repair the water source at Rattle
snake spring. It has taken seven months of
planning and preparation and now we need
your help to get this unit working again.
Working with the Park Service we have
removed the old metal apron and flown in the
Hypalon mat, now we need manpower to contour
the ground and lay the mat. As you know, it
is HOT in the desert this time of year so if
we get enough help we can get the job done
early and get back to camp by early
afternoon. We will camp close to the site so
the drive will be short and easy. The walk
in is about ½ mile with only the last 300
yards somewhat steep. The materials are on
site so we will only need to carry hand
tools. This is the first project in the park
in a long time so let’s show them what we
are made of.
WHEN: Work day July 15th. Arrive
on Friday afternoon or evening to enjoy
friends old and new. We will rise at
daylight in order to get an early start.
WHERE: Joshua Tree National Park.
There will be BLM property to camp on. Call
or email for directions.
